God Speaks in Dreams: The Business of Sleep You've Been Excluded From

Siblings in Christ, let's handle some business—the business of sleep. Scripture tells us "He gives sweet sleep to his beloved" (Psalm 127:2), but when's the last time your sleep was actually sweet?

According to Strong's Concordance, the Hebrew word for "sleep" here is shênâh (H8142), meaning natural sleep—but not just any sleep. The word "sweet" in the original context implies something given freely, graciously, without the anxiety and striving that characterizes our waking hours. If you're drawing blanks on experiencing this kind of restorative rest, we've got a problem.

Here's the thing: you might think business hours run 9-to-5, but the real transactions happen from 11 PM to 5 AM. That's when the spirit realm conducts its most important meetings, shaping your days to come. And here's the kicker—you've been locked out of the boardroom.

The business of sleep is dreams. The fuller truth is revealed in this passage: "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword."

Look at everything God does in your dreams: He opens your ears, seals instructions for your life, withdraws you from wrong purposes, hides pride from you, keeps your soul from the pit, and saves your life from destruction.

Siblings, pay attention to this part because this is what tells you the business of your dreams. It lays it out right here:

• Instructions for your life are sealed within them

• The Lord may withdraw you from your purpose

• And hide pride from you

• He will use it to keep back your soul from the pit

• And to keep your life from perishing by the sword

Be patient. We'll further break that down to understand what that means. But let those parables marinate and let the Holy Spirit give you the greater understanding.

The Hebrew word for dream here is chalom (H2472), meaning "a communication from God during sleep"—both ordinary dreams and dreams with prophetic meaning. But here's what's profound: according to Steinberg's Hebrew dictionary, the root Ḥ-L-M also means "to bind, to be strong." This reveals that dreams are bound to—attached to—your waking life.

Something else for you to pay attention to: it says "sealeth their instruction." What does that tell you? There are instructions in your dreams. Instructions for your life. When we understand this scripture with its original definitions, it becomes: "God communicates through divine revelations and supernatural insights during the night hours, binding His life-saving guidance to your earthly reality."

Many of your dreams manifest because everything happens "on earth as it is in heaven"—the spiritual realm binding itself to the natural.

God's been sending you boardroom memos while you sleep, but you've been missing the meetings entirely. You're handling your waking life like a boss, but you're completely excluded from the spiritual business affairs that actually run your life. That's not just unfortunate—it's unnecessary. God never intended for you to be shut out of those rooms. He gave you an open invitation.

So why aren't you showing up? Now hold up—every dream isn't from God. I'm laying foundation right now, because without foundation, you can't receive the revelation even if you want to. Foundation provides the roots needed to stabilize the revelation, which allows you to receive it. So be patient. We'll get to nightmares, but right now we're establishing foundation.

Class is now in session, and it's time to reclaim your seat at the table where your real destiny gets decided. The business of sleep isn't optional—it's essential. And you've got an open invitation to the most important meetings of your life.
